AC Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic has said that Roma starlet Alessio Romagnoli would only go to the Rossoneri if he was to leave the Stadio Olimpico.

The Rossoneri have been linked all summer with a move for Romagnoli, but their bid for the defender hasn’t come to fruition as Roma are holding out for AC Milan to meet their valuation of the youngster.

Romagnoli is a product of Roma’s youth academy and was promoted to the first team in 2012.

He spent last season on loan at Sampdoria under then Blucerchiati manager Mihajlovic. The Croat has since moved to the San Siro and is eager to persuade the defender to sign for AC Milan.

The 20-year-old has also been linked with Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal of the Premier League, but Mihajlovic remains confident that the defender would land at the San Siro if he was to leave Roma.

“Should Romagnoli leave Roma, he'll come to Milan”, the manager was quoted as saying by Sky Italia.

The defender made 31 appearances for Sampdoria last season and grabbed two goals and as many assists.

He has earned six caps with the Italy Under-21 team and was part of the side during the European Under-21 Championship held in the Czech Republic last month.
