Former Leeds United defender Gunnar Halle has told his old side to prepare for success under new head coach Uwe Rosler.

The Norwegian worked alongside Rosler at several clubs in Norway as the German cut his teeth in management before heading to England.

There was speculation that Halle could join Rosler's backroom staff, but the former defender has remained in his native Norway, with the German bringing in other options to assist him.

Leeds played in Norway yesterday, losing a friendly 2-1 against German Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim.

Halle took the opportunity to drop in on his former club and has backed Rosler to lead Leeds back to the Premier League, talking up the head coach's abilities, especially when it comes to knowing the Championship and the players required to get out of it.

"I was working with Uwe for five years I think and I also played with him", he told LUTV.

"And I know as a person and a football coach he wants to win and he's very ambitious, and he's working very hard every day on the planning.

"He's very accurate in what he's doing and I think he prepares everything very good. I think he will succeed because he has done well at the previous clubs he's been to and also when he was in Norway", Halle continued.

"I'm sure he knows the league now and he knows the players he needs to get in.

"So I think for Leeds United it's good that they got Uwe."

Rosler's men next play a behind closed doors match on Wednesday before hosting Everton at Elland Road in a friendly as they prepare for the new Championship campaign.
