Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is expecting big things from Adam Lallana in his second season at the club.

Henderson, who underlined his side’s ambitions for next season to win a trophy and secure Champions League qualification, has opened up on Lallana’s reaction to his declaration, but has stressed the importance of the upcoming season, both for Lallana and the rest of the squad.

"I think he already knows”, Henderson said to LFC TV.

"Obviously he’ll laugh and stuff like that but deep down he knows this is big season.”

Lallana had a stop-start debut campaign with Liverpool last season, and Henderson feels the upcoming season will be important for the 27-year-old as he gets into the rhythm of playing regularly.

The ex-Southampton captain played 27 league games for the Reds last season and made his Premier League debut a month into the 2014/15 season owing to injury.

"It’s a big season for everyone, not just Adam, and it’s a big season for the whole team.

"I know he feels as though he can show people a lot more in terms of getting into a rhythm of playing every week. There’s big things to come from him I’m sure”, he added.

Lallana, who missed the Reds’ pre-season last year due to injury, has featured heavily for Brendan Rodgers’ side in the four friendlies on their pre-season tour of Asia and Australia.

The Anfield outfit will start of their 2015/16 campaign with an away game at Stoke City on the 9th of August.
