Former Liverpool striker Iago Aspas is hoping to form a deadly partnership with John Guidetti at Celta Vigo this season.

Guidetti has joined the Spanish La Liga side on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract at Manchester City earlier this summer.

Guidetti spent last season on loan at Scottish champions Celtic and scored 15 goals for the Bhoys in all competitions as they won the Scottish Premiership and the Scottish League Cup.

He is raring to get going with Celta Vigo and former Liverpool hitman Aspas, who joined the Spanish side earlier this summer, is ready to link up with Guidetti to devastating effect.

Aspas told Swedish daily Expressen: "He is a good guy. He talks a lot and is fun.

"I hope that we can play a match together soon so that he can show what qualities he has.

"He is a player who will bring a lot to the team. He is pretty good in front of goal, he has shown that before with the teams that he has played in."

Guidetti has not been thrown into action for Celta Vigo yet after coach Eduardo Berizzo opted not to take any risks with the Swede, believing his fitness levels still require work.

The striker helped Sweden's Under-21 side to victory on the European Under-21 Championship earlier this summer and had also attracted interest from Marseille, Inter, Feyenoord, Trabzonspor and Galatasaray.
