Atletico Madrid's new acquisition Jackson Martinez has revealed that he has been overwhelmed with the reception from the fans and insists that he will give his 100 per cent for the team every time he plays.

The Colombian marksman was snapped up by Atleti from FC Porto on four-year deal earlier this month after the Spanish club agreed to meet his buy-out clause.

The 28-year-old striker was officially presented to the fans at the Vicente Calderon yesterday and was immediately overwhelmed by the response from the crowd.

According to Martinez, it was unbelievable for him to witness so many fans coming to the ground to cheer for him. According to the striker such a reception serves as an extra motivation to give 100 per cent every time a player takes to the field.

"To be honest I’ve never experienced what I already have at Atleti at my other clubs", Martinez told his club's official website.

"The welcome has been amazing. So many people have given me their support. I really didn’t think so many people would show up last night at my official presentation last night.

"To see so many people at a simple and brief presentation is a massive motivation for me ahead of the season", declared the striker on the official Atletico website this morning.

"It’s not the same just simply training with your new club. It all changes when you’re given your playing shirt with your own squad number.

"That’s a great feeling and one feels so much more part of the team and the institution. I’ve started my cycle as an Atletico Madrid player."

During the three seasons Martinez had been with Porto, he managed 133 appearances, scoring 92 goals and also provided his team-mates with 14 assists.
