Premier League side Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of striker Jordan Ayew from French outfit Lorient for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old has put pen-to-paper to a five-year deal and will be at Villa Park until June 2020.

Ayew will be an addition to the list of players who have already joined from Ligue 1 clubs. Both left-back Jordan Amavi and midfielder Idrissa Gueye have moved in from France to provide options to manager Tim Sherwood next season.

Having moved to Marseille as a youngster, Ayew rose through the ranks to make his debut for the French side in 2009. During his five-year long stay at Stade Velodrome, the youngster managed an overall 147 appearances for the club, scoring 22 goals and also provided his team-mates with 16 assists.

Ayew spent just one season with Lorient last term, scoring a total of 13 goals for them.
