Real Madrid defender Pepe has said that Manchester United target Sergio Ramos is an integral part of Los Blancos’ squad and he wants him to stay put at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Ramos has been linked with a move to Old Trafford all summer, with Louis van Gaal’s side having had a £28.6m bid for the defender rejected earlier this summer.

However, the Red Devils haven’t given up on the chase for their target and have been bolstered by Ramos’ apparent desire to ply his trade away from the Spanish capital after his relationship with the Real Madrid hierarchy hit an all-time low.

Club president Florentino Perez held a meeting with the Spain international yesterday during their ongoing pre-season tour of China in order to persuade him to remain at the Bernabeu.

And Pepe has joined the chorus of Real Madrid players who are keen for the former Sevilla man to prolong his ten-year stay with Los Blancos.
