Tottenham Hotspur have signalled they are willing to pay up to €12m for Schalke starlet Leroy Sane, but the Bundesliga outfit are not keen on parting company with the attacking midfielder, according to German magazine Kicker.

Sane made 13 league appearances last term for the Royal Blues and notched three goals and a solitary assist in the process.

He also made his Champions League debut against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu and impressed all and sundry, also scoring a goal in a 4-3 defeat of Los Blancos.

Son of former Senegal international Souleyman Sane and German rhythmic gymnast champion Regina Weber, the 19-year-old joined Schalke’s youth academy in 2009 and became a first team member in 2014.

Tottenham were keen on prising the youngster away to White Hart Lane as they attempt to strengthen their ranks for the coming season.

However, Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt has said that his club have no interest in selling their prized possession and feels that the youngster has tremendous potential.

"Leroy is a player with tremendous potential”, he was quoted as saying by German daily Kicker.

Heldt further added that Sane’s value will grow well beyond the €12m mark "if he continues to develop."
