Everton are ready to provide stiff competition to West Ham for the signature of Barcelona starlet Alen Halilovic.

Considered one of the brightest young prospects in the club’s ranks, Barcelona are reluctant to lose the young Croatian playmaker, but a lack of first team football is believed to be have been a cause of frustration for the youngster.

The 19-year-old has made just one senior appearance for Barcelona and spent the majority of last season playing for the club’s reserve side.

Halilovic is reluctant to spend one more season in the reserves and with West Ham reportedly interested in the playmaker, he is believed to be considering his options this summer.

However, the Hammers are set to face stiff competition from another Premier League side for the playmaker’s signature as according to Mundo Deportivo, Everton have also joined the chase for Halilovic.

While both clubs are ready to offer €10m for the player, West Ham still hold an advantage over Everton because of Slaven Bilic’s presence at Upton Park.

The Croat is believed to be playing an important role behind the scenes to bring his compatriot to London this summer.

While Barcelona are keen to hold on to the player, it is looking increasingly likely that the 19-year-old could grace the Premier League next season.
