FC Porto are close to reaching an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur to sign Inter Milan linked Erik Lamela on loan this summer, it has been claimed in Portugal.

While the former Roma man was more or less a regular starter for Tottenham last season, he failed to produce the performances that made the north London club splash out €30m on him two summers ago.

Inter have been keeping a close watch on the Argentine for some time now and were keen to take him back to Italy, but it seems Lamela could be on his way to Portugal in the current transfer window.

Porto are in talks with Tottenham for the signature of the 23-year-old and according to Portuguese daily Record, they are close to securing a loan deal for the winger.

Should Lamela move to the Dragao, the Portuguese giants would reserve the right to make his move permanent from Tottenham for a fee of around €7.5m.

While Spurs paid four times the money to sign the Argentine in 2013, Lamela is claimed to be feeling unsettled in London and is ready to make a move away from White Hart Lane to make a fresh start at a new club.

He has made 63 appearances for Tottenham since joining the club two years ago and has only scored six goals and provided 14 assists for his team-mates.

The 23-year-old still has three years left on his contract with Spurs.
