Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is still considering the idea of moving to Manchester United despite claims he is set to stay put at the Bernabeu, it has been asserted in Spain.

The Red Devils have been confident of signing the de-facto Real Madrid captain this summer due to his cold relationship with president Florentino Perez.

However, the defender and his agent held positive talks with the Real Madrid president and CEO Jose Angel Sanchez over the weekend, with his brother Rene present, and Ramos could eventually stay at the club.

While the meeting did take place, according to Spanish daily AS, the 29-year-old is yet to give on the idea of moving to Old Trafford this summer and still considers it a potential option.

The main bone of contention between Perez and Ramos has been the latter’s wage demands, but the defender is happy with the softening of the club’s stance over the last few days.

However, Manchester United still have a window of opportunity regarding Ramos as he has decided to postpone the contract renewal talks with Real Madrid until after the squad return to Spain next month from their pre-season tour.

Ramos has been demanding a salary of around €10m per season, but Real Madrid were only willing to offer a package of around €7m per season.

On the other hand Manchester United have reportedly prepared a five-year contract worth €55m and will also pay up to €60m to land the defender.
