Atletico Madrid’s latest acquisition Filipe Luis has said that Diego Simeone and Jose Mourinho both share the same zealous appetite for winning, adding that had it not been for Los Rojiblancos, he would still have been at Stamford Bridge.

Luis had a four year-spell at the Vicente Calderon from 2010 – when he arrived in the Spanish capital from Deportivo La Coruna – until the summer of 2014.

However, he made a move to the Premier League last year and landed at Mourinho’s Chelsea.

His solitary season in English top flight didn’t go according to script and he found himself playing second fiddle to Spain international Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back under the Portuguese tactician.

The Brazil international has completed a return move to the Vicente Calderon and has said that although Simeone and Mourinho are very different from each other, they share the same zeal for winning.

“Mou and Simeone are very different but they share the same crazy ambition to win”, he was quoted as saying by Madrid-based daily Marca.

The 29-year-old further added that had it not been for a return to Atletico Madrid, he would still have been at Stamford Bridge.

“If I was not to return to Atletico, I would still be at Chelsea.

“I had a contract.”
