Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has denied making overtures for Liverpool target and Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi for his acquisition this summer.

Illarramendi is a product of Real Sociedad’s youth academy and after three seasons with La Real’s first team, he transferred to Real Madrid in the summer of 2013.

However, the Basque has been unable to solidify a place in Los Blancos’ first team over the course of his two seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu, leading to constant speculation about his future at the club.

He has been linked with a move back to Real Sociedad as well as to Premier League giants Liverpool.

However, Aperribay has given Liverpool’s pursuit of the midfielder a boost by saying that La Real have made no contact with Rafael Benitez’s side for his purchase.
