Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has insisted his affection towards former club Arsenal will never change, no matter how he is received by the Gunners’ faithful in Sunday’s Community Shield match.

Premier League champions Chelsea take on last season’s FA Cup winners Arsenal in the curtain raiser for the 2015/16 season at Wembley in the FA Community Shield.

And Fabregas, who spent eight years at Arsenal from 2003 to 2011, has talked up the high regard he holds his former club in.

"The love I have for that club will never change whatever happens and what is the most important is what I have with me from my time there”, the midfielder was quoted as saying by the FA’s official website.

The 28-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Barcelona last summer and helped the Blues to their first league title in five years, has insisted his love and respect for the north London club will not change even if subjected to a hostile reception from the Arsenal fans.

"The rest doesn’t matter, I have great memories, love and respect for the club. You will never hear anything bad from me about them”, he added.

Fabregas will hope to help Chelsea to the season’s first piece of silverware and will look to prevent his former club from securing back-to-back Community Shield triumphs on Sunday.
