Ahead of their pre-season friendly against HJK Helsinki, Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has said that he is looking forward to playing in front of the Reds’ supporters in Finland.

The Reds have completed their pre-season tours of Thailand, Australia and Malaysia, and are now all set to play HJK Helsinki on 1st August.

Skrtel has described the experience of playing in Finland as similar to their time in Asia and is eager for the Reds to ply their trade in front of their Finnish supporters.

"We know we have a lot of fans there so it is similar to going to Asia”, he was quoted as saying by his club’s site.

“We want to go there so they can see us play.

The Slovakia international further added that since their match against the Finnish outfit comes so close to the start of the 2015/16 campaign, it becomes important for the team to get a good result in order to start the new season on a confident note.

"That game will be very important because it's one week before the season starts so it's very important to get a result and get confidence up.”
