Celtic have announced that goalkeeper Craig Gordon has signed a new contract to extend his stay at the club.

Gordon has put pen to paper on a deal with the Scottish champions which keeps him at Celtic Park until the summer of 2018.

The former Sunderland goalkeeper is delighted to have committed his future to the Bhoys and explained to the club's official site: "I am absolutely delighted to extend my contract with Celtic, such a fantastic football club. I have enjoyed my first year immensely at Celtic.

"It has been great to enjoy success already and I'm looking forward to giving everything to bring more good times to our supporters who have given me such a tremendous welcome to the club."

Celtic snapped up Gordon last summer as a replacement for the departed Fraser Forster and he has impressed between the sticks for the club.

Gordon helped Celtic win both the Scottish Premiership title and the Scottish League Cup last season, while he was also voted the Scottish Football Writers' Player of the Year.

The news is a big boost to Celtic on the eve of their Champions League third qualifying round first leg clash against Azerbaijani outfit Qarabag.
