Arsenal are not open to the ideal of loaning out forward Joel Campbell to Palermo this summer.

The club supremo, Maurizio Zamparini, arrived in London yesterday to negotiate a deal to sign the Costa Rican on loan and was hoping to get a deal done soon.

While he has opened talks with the Gunners, according to Sky Italia, Zamparini has failed to convince the north London club to loan out Campbell to the Sicilian club.

Though Arsenal are ready to allow the winger to leave the club, they are believed to be looking for a more permanent solution than just a loan deal.

Palermo are still interested in taking Campbell to Sicily and are expected to continue to negotiate with the Gunners in the next few days to find a solution.

The forward himself is keen to leave Arsenal this summer as he is unlikely to play much first team football next season in the presence of Alexis Sanchez, Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud.

After failing to play regular football last season, Campbell was loaned out to Villarreal in January, where he made 16 appearances in the second half of their campaign.

He only has a year left on his contract with the Gunners and has also attracted interest from Fenerbahce.
