Real Madrid are hoping to open contract renewal talks with Manchester United target Sergio Ramos next month.

Florentino Perez met the player and his agent in China last weekend to bring an end to the hostilities between the club and the de-facto club captain.

While things have calmed down between the club and the player, Ramos is yet to sign a new contract but Real Madrid are confident that they will be able to tie him down to a long-term deal.

According to AS, the club and the player are expected to sit down for contract renewal talks once they return from their Audi Cup adventures next month.

While Perez has managed to calm things down between him and Ramos, the thought of joining Manchester United has yet to escape the player’s head and the club will still need to convince him to sign a new deal.

Ramos has been demanding a salary package of around €10m per season but Real Madrid were only willing to offer him around €7m.

However, a compromise figure of around €9m per season could be agreed and Ramos might commit his long-term future to Real Madrid soon.

While the chances of the defender moving to Manchester United is diminishing with each passing day, the English giants are still hoping that their proposed five-year contract worth €55m would still turn the head of the 29-year-old defender.
