Bologna sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has revealed that the Serie A new boys would be interested in a deal to sign Mario Balotelli from Liverpool.

The forward joined Liverpool from AC Milan last summer but failed to make any kind of impact at Anfield last season, as the Reds struggled to score goals.

With Liverpool signing players such as Danny Ings, Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino, Balotelli’s stock at the club has further fallen and he is believed to be surplus to requirements at Anfield.

Brendan Rodgers left him out of their pre-season squad and has said that the future of the Italian depends on the forward himself.

A number of Italian clubs are still keen to take a gamble on the former Manchester City man and one of them is Bologna.

The club’s sporting director revealed Bologna’s interest in the player and stressed that they would be keen to take Balotelli back to Italy ‘at the right price’.

When asked whether the club would be interested in signing the forward on loan, Corvino told Corriere dello Sport: “He still has motivation, so I would take him.

“Of course, Bologna have a certain financial parameter, which needs to be respected.

“But at the right price, we would even consider buying him.”

Bologna achieved promotion to the Italian top flight last season via the playoffs and are said to be keen to add an experienced forward to their squad ahead of the new season.

Liverpool may well be willing to offload Balotelli this summer, but finding a club to take on the striker's wage demands could prove difficult.
