Bayern Munich have joined the race to sign wantaway Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi, who is also attracting interest from Manchester United and Manchester City.

Otamendi's representatives have made clear their client's desire to quit Los Che for pastures new this summer, but Valencia continue to insist that any side interested in signing the centre-back must meet his €50m buy-out clause.

Manchester City and Manchester United have long been leading the race, but now Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich are muscling in for Otamendi.

According to Valencia-based sports daily Super Deporte, the Bundesliga champions have contacted Otamendi's agent Jorge Mendes to register their interest in his client.

Bayern Munich have not yet made contact with Valencia themselves and it remains to be seen how the race will develop over the summer.
