Young Rangers midfielder Tom Walsh has insisted the Light Blues will not take their League One opponents Peterhead lightly in the Scottish League Cup on Sunday.

Rangers are up against Peterhead in the first round of the Scottish League Cup at Ibrox on Sunday and youngster Walsh has underlined his club’s intentions ahead of the game.

Speaking to the Gers’ official website, he said: “You want to win every cup you’re in and every game you play, so it doesn’t matter whether it is pre-season, cup or league, every game is massive.”

The midfielder says there is no room for complacency at a club like Rangers, and will approach the Peterhead tie with the intention of winning, despite the league being the club’s priority for the 2015/16 season.

“That is what it’s about being at this club – we take every game seriously so Peterhead will be no different.”

While the 19-year-old believes the game is similar to a cup final for their opponents, he is confident Rangers will give a good account of themselves and send their fans home happy.

“It is a cup final for them but we are at Ibrox and we have to give the fans a good showing and I’m sure we will”, he added.

Walsh, who failed to make the squad for the Gers’ first competitive game of the season last week against Hibernian, will hope to play some part in Sunday’s game.
