Leicester City have made an offer of €4.5m to sign Napoli midfielder Gokhan Inler as Claudio Ranieri looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

Tough-tackling midfielder Inler has regularly been linked with a move away from Italy in recent seasons, with Liverpool notable suitors, but has always stayed put in Serie A.

Now Leicester are mounting a serious push to change that and tempt the Switzerland international to continue his career in the Premier League.

According to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, the Foxes have slapped in a €4.5m bid for Inler.

And on the table for the midfielder is a three-year contract worth €2m net per season.

There has also been interest in Inler from both Watford and Galatasaray, but Leicester have taken a firm grip of the race and appear determined to snap up the midfielder.

Ranieri recently took charge at the King Power Stadium and is desperate to make an impact on his return to management in the Premier League.

And it is to his native Italy that he is looking for help.
