Leicester City have reached an agreement with Italian side Atalanta to sign centre-back Yohan Benalouane, but must still find a deal with the player.

Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri is a firm fan of the 28-year-old defender and wants him at the King Power Stadium to bolster his defensive options ahead of the new campaign.

Now, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Leicester have managed to agree a fee of around €7m for the defender.

What remains is for the Premier League club to agree personal terms with Benalouane, something they are attempting to do with his representatives.

Benalouane started his career in the youth ranks at French side Saint-Etienne, but after breaking through to the club's senior ranks then moved to Italy with Cesena in 2010.

The defender joined Parma in 2012 before switching to current club Atalanta, initially on loan, at the start of last year.

Last season Benalouane made 27 appearances in Serie A for Atalanta, also chipping in with a single goal. However, he did pick up 12 yellow cards in the process of his Italian top flight action.

His contract with Atalanta runs until the summer of 2019.
