Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has expressed his happiness at seeing youngster Sean Goss get some important playing time for the first team.

The 19-year-old got his first taste of senior team football when he came off the bench for the final ten minutes at Soldier Field against Paris Saint-Germain.

The veteran midfielder insists that he loves seeing youngsters getting first-team opportunities and for Goss to come out and play for the Red Devils was a bonus in many ways.

Carrick is also of the view that playing for Louis van Gaal's side will motivate the youngster to go on and be hungry for more.

"I love to see the young lads getting a chance and the opportunity for Sean to come away on tour was probably a bonus for him in many ways", Carrick told his club's official website.

"So to come away and train, and get that at the end, is great for him and will probably make him even more hungry."

Goss is widely regarded as one of the brightest prospect for the Red Devils. The youngster managed a total of eight appearances in the Under-21 Premier League last season scoring a single goal.

Goss' first match in a senior shirt didn't go that well though as his side lost 2-0 to the French champions in the final match of their US tour.
