Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has opted to remain in London to continue negotiating with Arsenal over Joel Campbell, rather than returning home to Italy.

Zamparini recently arrived in London and slapped in a €5m offer for the Costa Rica forward, only to see Arsenal demand double in order to part with Campbell.

The Gunners have recently lowered their demands to €9m and Zamparini is, according to Sky Italia, opting to stay on in London in an attempt to find an agreement.

Palermo sold Argentine striker Paulo Dybala to Juventus for €32m earlier this summer and Zamparini is convinced that Campbell is the man to replace the now Bianconeri hitman.

Arsenal shipped Campbell out on loan for the second half of last season, sending him to Spanish La Liga side Villarreal as defender Gabriel Paulista made the opposite journey on a permanent deal.

Campbell has endured a series of loan spells since joining Arsenal in 2011.

The 23-year-old has spent time with Lorient in France, Real Betis in Spain and Olympiacos in Greece.

Campbell may well be attracted to the stability of a permanent move to Palermo ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.
