A potential move for Jordan Veretout to Aston Villa is starting to cause issues at the midfielder's current club, Nantes, as president and coach take opposing views.

Tottenham Hotspur have been pushing to sign Veretout with a mooted bid of €15m ready to snap up the midfielder, however in recent days it is Aston Villa who have firmly taken the lead in the race.

But even before the young midfielder has made the move to Villa Park, there is trouble between Nantes coach Michel Der Zakarian and president Waldemar Kita.

Der Zakarian, asked about an impending departure for Veretout, told Ocean Presse: "I have an opportunity in my head [to replace Veretout].

"But if it does not work out then I am not concerned as I have all the midfielders in the world", he added.

Der Zakarian's words were not welcomed by president Kita however, who explained to L'Equipe: "I would have rather him have said he would like to keep Jordan."

Nantes do have midfield options in the event Veretout leaves the club, having added former Leeds United midfielder Adryan and ex-Evian star Adrien Thomasson.

However, 22-year-old Veretout, a product of the club's youth academy, is viewed as a star of the future and losing his services would be a blow for the Ligue 1 side, being felt keenly by supremo Kita.

Veretout has long been tipped for the top, having represented France from Under-18 level through to Under-21 level.
