Rangers starlet Calum Gallagher has underlined his ambition to stake a claim for first team football at the club, which he feels is a “one of a kind” club.

Gallagher, who spent the first half of the 2014/15 season on loan at Cowdenbeath, is desperate for first team action at the club, and has targeted full-time football before his contract ends next summer.

Speaking to Rangers TV, he said: “My aim and my target is full-time football.

“This is a big year for me as it’s the last year I’m contracted here at Rangers, so I’m going to do whatever it takes to become a regular first-team player here.”

The 20-year-old has spoken highly of the facilities at “one of a kind” club Rangers and also talked up the environment created at the club by the new regime of Mark Warburton and David Weir.

“It’s a one of a kind club.

“Given the choice of anywhere in Scotland, I think with the facilities we have, the environment the new manager has created and the style of football we’re going to play, it makes it somewhere that anyone would want to play football”, he added.

The youngster has made clear his ambition to stay at Ibrox, and is confident of performing at Rangers’ level should he be given opportunities at the club, and believes his loan spell last season at Cowdenbeath has improved him as a player.

"So this is definitely where I want to be.

“My loan spell at Cowedenbeath was really beneficial for me as a player, and I really enjoyed my time there as a player.

“So I know I can perform at this level so it’s just a case now of getting up to match speed and being given the opportunity to prove myself”, Gallagher added.

Gallagher made ten Scottish Championship appearances for Cowdenbeath last season, scoring five goals and providing two assists.
