AC Milan manager Sinisa Mihajlovic has expressed his satisfaction with the progress his team have made during pre-season, which he believes has been proven by the way they played against Real Madrid.

The Rossoneri dragged the Madrid giants to penalties where they were beaten 10-9 after the shoot-out went to the sudden death earlier today.

It was Real Madrid's new signing Kiko Casilla who turned out to be the hero, saving an effort from his counterpart Gianluigi Donnarumma before scoring past him to hand his side the win.

The newly appointed AC Milan boss though is not at all disappointed with the loss and feels that his side can take pride from the fact that they were able to drag the Spanish team to penalties.

Mihajlovic also took time to praise the China outing, insisting that the two matches they played there against their Inter Milan and Real Madrid give them the courage and confirms what they have been doing.

"After these two matches, we have reached our objective. We competed on level terms with Real Madrid and dominated the match for large spells", Mihajlovic said at a press conference.

"Let’s hope that we have increased the number of our fans here. If another tour is organised here in China, we will gladly come back.

"The two matches that we played here give us courage and confirm what we have been doing. We have always trained well and with the utmost commitment. We can never get our mental approach wrong.

"Our style of play in attack and defence has to be carried out as we have planned. We must always remain an organised team and one that plays to win."
