Torino have joined the chase for the signature of Liverpool’s Italian forward Fabio Borini.

Even though he refused to leave Liverpool last summer, the 24-year-old striker was reduced to fringe player status last season at Anfield and is expected to finally depart the club this summer.

A number of Italian clubs have been mooted as his possible destination for next season, but his future at Liverpool remains unresolved.

Brendan Rodgers’ decision to leave him out of their pre-season touring party signalled the club’s intention to offload him and the Reds might have found another Italian buyer for their out-of-favour forward.

According to Turin-based daily Tuttosport, Torino have joined the chase for Borini and could make a move to take the former Roma forward back to Italy this summer.

Il Toro are in the market for forwards and Borini is one of the options they are closely following at the moment.

Borini made just 12 Premier League appearances last season for the Reds and scored just a solitary goal in a campaign where Liverpool finished sixth in the league table.

He still has two years left on his contract with the club.
