Manchester City full-back Gael Clichy has emerged as a target for Inter Milan this summer.

Zenit St. Petersburg’s Domenico Criscito remains their primary target, but there is speculation that Inter are not keen to pay his asking price of €15m.

While they are still on the Zenit full-back’s trail, Inter are looking at other options to strengthen their full-back area and their search has led them to the Etihad.

According to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, the Nerazzurri are considering making a move for Manchester City’s French international left-back Clichy.

Clichy still has two years left on his contract with the Citizens, but is no longer a certain starter for Manuel Pellegrini’s team and made just 23 league appearances last season.

The prospect of a certain first eleven spot could tempt Clichy to leave the Etihad, but Manchester City are unlikely to agree to a sale as they are not keen to weaken the squad so close to the start of the season.

Inter are expected to try to land Criscito first and only a failure to do so might tempt them to look at the option of signing Clichy.

The Frenchman joined Manchester City from Arsenal in 2011 and has made 136 appearances for the club.
