Bayern Munich legend Stefan Effenberg does not feel Pep Guardiola will remain at the club beyond the end of next season.

Guardiola joined the Bavarians on a three-year contract in 2013 and has won two back-to-back league titles with the Bundesliga giants.

However, he has failed to win the Champions League with the club so far and many feel their performances in Europe’s elite competition could finally define the Spaniard’s stint in Bavaria.

Going into the final year of his contract, it has been suggested that the former Barcelona man might leave the club at the end of next season.

Former Bayern Munich midfielder Effenberg also feels the same way and believes the club could consider appointing Jurgen Klopp as the Spaniard’s successor at the Allianz Arena.

“In the meantime, I am also thinking about Klopp. He could certainly be an alternative for Bayern”, Effenberg told Bild.

“I am pretty sure – I can say so – that beyond 2016, Guardiola won’t remain the coach of FC Bayern.”

Manchester City are believed to be interested in appointing Guardiola as successor to Pellegrini, whose contract expires next summer, at the end of next season.

Klopp left Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season and is currently on a sabbatical from football management.
