Leeds United boss Uwe Rosler has admitted being in the hunt for a winger, but remained coy on his club’s reported interest in Sunderland’s Will Buckley.

The Whites have chasing a winger all summer and have been keen on Buckley, who is surplus to requirements at the Stadium of Light.

The 25-year-old signed from Brighton & Hove Albion for Sunderland last summer, but struggled to hold on to a first team spot after spending part of the season injured.

By the end of the 2014/15 season, the winger made 22 league appearances for Sunderland and provided two assists as the Black Cats avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth.

When Rosler was asked about his club’s interest in the Englishman, he remained coy, saying he prefers not to talk about players of other clubs.

“It’s very important that I don’t like to talk about players who are not Leeds United players”, the German was quoted as saying by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“He’s not on a contract with us. That’s respectful of the player and the club.”

Pressed about interest in Buckley, the former Manchester City forward admitted that the winger would be right fit for the club.

“As far as I know Will is a winger and we’re looking for a winger, yes.”
