Leeds United are chasing winger Will Buckley after Sunderland signalled their willingness to sell the 25-year-old, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat is in the thick of planning his squad for the new campaign and is prepared to offload Buckley for the right price.

It has been mooted that the Black Cats want £1.5m to sell the winger, but so far they have not found any clubs willing to meet the player's asking price, as Championship sides sniff around a loan deal.

Leeds head coach Uwe Rosler has placed Buckley on his list of targets as he looks for a left-sided attacker to compliment his squad this summer.

And the Whites are looking to loan Buckley with a permanent transfer option bolted on, as they work with a small remaining budget following a series of signings already this summer.

Sunderland splashed out around £2.5m to sign Buckley from Brighton last summer, however he struggled with injury during the second half of last season and found holding down a spot upon his return to be tough.

Buckley started his career at Rochdale before earning a move to Watford.

Brighton then snapped the winger up for a club record fee of £1m and he enjoyed three productive years on the south coast before heading to link up with Sunderland.
