Rangers' facilities at their Auchenhowie base have been saluted as better than those of Premier League side West Ham United by academy sports scientist Luke Lawrence.

The Glasgow giants have impressive facilities at Murray Park which are regularly lauded by coaches and players alike and Lawrence is also impressed with what he has discovered.

The sports scientist worked for West Ham before making the move up to Rangers in November last year and he is delighted with what he has found in Scotland.

Indeed, Lawrence rates Rangers' facilities as better than those at West Ham, while he also feels there is more passion for the Gers in the surrounding area than is the case in London for the Hammers.

Speaking to Rangers TV, Lawrence said: "I would say the facilities here are better than they are at West Ham.

"Things are done in a very similar manner, but there is a bit more passion here and people really want to play for the club.

"That’s maybe because there are a lot of teams in London – but, of course, there’s only one team in Glasgow!" he joked, writing off rivals Celtic.

Lawrence also saluted the manner in which he has been made to feel welcome at Rangers, along with praising the many changes he has seen at the club in his short spell with the Gers so far.

"I arrived in November last year, and even in this short space of time there have been a lot of changes", he explained.

"It’s all part and parcel of developing going forward, and Craig Mulholland the Academy director is doing a fantastic job and I’m very happy to be here.

"I’ve settled well. It’s always daunting moving a long way from home, but the staff here have been excellent and the transition has been very smooth", Lawrence added.
