Manchester United target Nicolas Otamendi’s Valencia team-mate Enzo Perez has stressed that there is no doubting the defender’s professionalism.

The defender, through his agent, has made it clear that he would like to leave Valencia this summer and Manchester United and Manchester City are believed to his primary suitors.

Unable to resolve his future as soon as he would have liked to, the defender has returned to pre-season training with Valencia, but he remains determined to leave the club.

With the 27-year-old angling for a move away from Los Che, questions have been raised over his conduct, but his Valencia team-mate Perez stressed that people who know Otamendi would never question his professionalism.

Perez was quoted as saying by Valencia-based daily Super Deporte: "He, who knows Nico knows, that there is nothing to clarify.

“To doubt his professionalism, is to doubt him.”

While he admits the situation needs to be resolved between the club and the player, Perez stressed that his team-mates would love to see Otamendi stay at Valencia.

“What he and the club decide is up to them, but we all want him to stay."

Manchester United and Manchester City are yet to make any concrete offers for the defender and Valencia have remained adamant that they won’t allow the Argentine to leave unless someone pays his release clause of €50m.

Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes is overseeing the negotiations and has held meetings with the Mancunian duo to break the deadlock.
