Celtic manager Ronny Deila believes his side can do much better than they did earlier today when beating Ross County 2-0 in their opening Scottish Premiership fixture of the season.

It took Celtic just four minutes to take the lead at Celtic Park when Leigh Griffiths scored from the penalty spot to put the hosts ahead.

However, the striker did not last long and had to be replaced by Stefan Scepovic in the 19th minute, coming off through injury.

Celtic then doubled their lead in the 35th minute when Stefan Johansen struck, sending them 2-0 ahead at the break.

No further goals arrived in the second half in what Deila felt was a performance which could have been much better from the champions.

"You always want to play better and today we played ok for 55-60 minutes but the last 30 minutes were sloppy and messy. We weren’t together as a team and lost the ball all over the pitch and that was a little bit disappointing", he said via his club's site.

"It was two-and-a-half days since we played and it was a big match with a lot of intensity and you could see a lot of the other players were tired and there were a lot of changes."

Celtic are next in action this coming Wednesday when they face a crucial Champions League qualifier away in Azerbaijan.

The Bhoys won the first leg of their third qualifying round tie against Qarabag 1-0 on home soil earlier this week and are now looking to finish the job to progress to the playoff round.
