Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is ready to sell David de Gea to Real Madrid this summer, according to Spanish daily AS.

Despite his previous reservations, the Dutchman has come to a conclusion that there is no point keeping an unhappy player at the club.

The Manchester United boss has asked the club to negotiate a deal to sell De Gea to Real Madrid as soon as possible so that that he has the time to bring in a replacement.

However, it has been claimed Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has remained steadfast in his resolve to keep De Gea at Old Trafford this summer.

Woodward feels that as one of the biggest clubs in the world it would be a sign of weakness for Manchester United if they allow another high profile player to join Real Madrid.
