Tottenham Hotspur striker Roberto Soldado is poised to leave White Hart Lane after agreeing terms with La Liga outfit Villarreal.

Soldado has struggled to live up to expectations at Spurs since joining the Premier League club from Valencia in the summer of 2013.

The emergence of Harry Kane last term pushed the Spaniard further down the pecking order last term and he is now set to return to the happier hunting ground of his homeland.

According to Radio Marca, the striker has agreed term with Villarreal, who are now putting the finishing touches to the transfer.

The amount Spurs will earn from selling Soldado to Villarreal is unknown, as is the pay packet he has been offered by the Yellow Submarine.

Villarreal, coached by Marcelino, finished sixth in La Liga last term and will be looking to push for a top four finish in the upcoming campaign.

Soldado, 30, began his career in the youth ranks at Real Madrid before enjoying a loan spell with Osasuna and then joining Getafe permanently.

He signed for Valencia in 2010 and was prolific at the Mestalla, catching Tottenham's attention.
