Former Celtic striker Georgios Samaras is at the centre of a transfer scramble which has already seen him reject the chance to join Turkish outfit Bursaspor.

The 30-year-old turned out for Celtic from 2008 until 2014, having initially joined the club on loan from Manchester City. He left Celtic Park to link up with English side West Brom last year.

Most recently the Greece international has been turning out in the Middle East with Saudi Arabia outfit Al Hilal.

Now Samaras is looking for a new adventure and according to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, is being chased by New York Cosmos and Sampdoria.

Samaras, who knocked back an offer from Bursaspor, has been offered a two-year deal worth €1m per season by Sampdoria.

However, the offer from New York Cosmos is worth €1.7m per year, putting the American side ahead in the race for Samaras' signature.

Samaras won four Scottish league titles, two Scottish Cups and one Scottish League Cup during his stint in Glasgow with Celtic.

At international level he has won 81 caps for Greece.
