Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits he is taking extra satisfaction from his side beating Chelsea in the FA Community Shield at Wembley today.

Wenger's men put the Blues to the sword through a single goal from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was played in after good work from Theo Walcott in the 24th minute and, having made the space to shoot, made no mistake.

Chelsea struggled to threaten Arsenal and did not register a single shot on target in the opening 45 minutes and, although the had chances after the break, so did the Gunners and the Blues needed Thibaut Courtois to be in good form to prevent Wenger's men scoring again.

It finished 1-0 and handed Wenger his first victory as a manager against Jose Mourinho.

Speaking at a press conference after the game, Wenger said: "It was an intense game and you could see that the teams played with full concentration and commitment.

"Every time we attacked we had chances. We had many chances today and the best chances came from our side.

"Our game is based on solidarity, defending and attacking well. We wanted to protect our lead when we were 1-0 up.

"There's an extra satisfaction because we didn't concede a goal against a team with Chelsea's attacking potential", the Frenchman added.

Arsenal now add the Community Shield to two other trophies picked up in pre-season, with the Gunners having won the Barclays Asia Trophy in Singapore and the Emirates Cup in their own backyard.
