Napoli forward and Arsenal and Manchester United target Gonzalo Higuain is all set to continue his stay at the Stadio San Paulo as he prepares to sign a new deal, according to Sky Italia.

Higuain joined Napoli from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013, snubbing interest from Arsenal at the time, and has gone on to become a vital member of their first team.




Last season, he netted 29 goals across all competitions and assisted a further 11 to help the Serie A outfit finish fifth in the league standings.

The prolific Argentine has been eyed by Arsenal as well Manchester United of the English Premier League, but he looks set to continue his Serie A sojourn with Napoli.
 


Higuain existing contract lasts until the summer of 2018 and the new contract is expected to be until June 2019.

The striker is expected to get a raise on his existing salary as part of the new deal.

Prior to his move to Serie A, the 27-year-old had a six-year spell with Real Madrid of the Spanish La Liga.

Higuain has earned 51 caps for the Argentina national team and has netted 25 goals in the process.
