Juventus new boy Sami Khedira is set to be sidelined for approximately two months after suffering a thigh injury in a pre-season friendly.

The Germany international, who moved to the Turin-based club on a four-year deal from Spanish side Real Madrid, is yet to play an official match for the Italian champions.




And he is now set to be sidelined for a lengthy period after being stretchered off during Juventus's 2-0 friendly defeat against Marseille at the weekend.

The Bianconeri have released a statement on their official website revealing that the medical examinations have shown a torn muscle in the player's right thigh.
 


"Sami Khedira will be sidelined for approximately two months after medical examinations revealed a second-grade myotendinous tear of the rectus femoris muscle in his right thigh", the statement on the club's official website revealed.

"The German midfielder sustained the injury during last Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Olympique Marseille at the Stade Velodrome."

Khedira, who started his career with VfB Stuttgart, moved to Spain to join Real Madrid in 2010.

He managed a total of 161 appearances for Los Blancos in the course of the last five seasons, before bringing an end to his stay to join the Italian champions.
