Sunderland have officially confirmed the sale of striker Connor Wickham to fellow Premier League outfit Crystal Palace.

Alan Pardew has pounced for the former Ipswich Town striker, who has put pen to paper on a five-year contract at Selhurst Park to increase the Eagles' attacking options ahead of the new season.

The 22-year-old started his career at Ipswich before being snapped up by Sunderland in 2011.

He helped keep the Black Cats in the Premier League in the 2013/14 season after embarking upon a remarkable goalscoring run, having returned to the club following loan spells with Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United.

The striker made a total of 91 appearances for Sunderland, hitting the back of the net on 15 occasions.
