Rangers manager Mark Warburton has praised the part played by the 25,608 strong Ibrox crowd in the club’s win over Peterhead yesterday.

The Glasgow giants ran out 3-0 winners against Peterhead at Ibrox in a first round tie of the Scottish League Cup, with goals from David Templeton, Kenny Miller and James Tavernier settling affairs in the Gers’ first competitive home match of the season.

And Warburton is delighted with the support of the fans at Ibrox, pointing to their full voice late into the game with Rangers chasing a fourth goal.

“What was most pleasing was when the players missed out on the fourth goal, the players all noticed as one the roar from the crowd, as did the staff”, Warburton told Rangers TV after the game.

The 52-year-old believes satisfying the Gers supporters is the aim, and has stressed playing a brand of football that is enjoyable for the fans.

“That’s what we have to do.

“We must ensure the supporters enjoy their football and how the team play”, he added.

Rangers are at home for their Championship opener against St Mirren this Friday, and Warburton will hope to carry the Light Blues’ recent form of two wins in two matches into the league campaign.
