Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez has insisted that he sees no reason for Arsenal-linked striker Karim Benzema to leave the club this summer.

The French forward has been linked with a move out of the Santiago Bernabeu with north London tipped to be his potential destination.

The Gunners' boss Arsene Wenger though has done his best to stamp out any such rumours, insisting that there is nothing happening on the Benzema front and he has absolutely no clue about who brings those rumours up.

"I don't know who brings that up", Wenger said via his club's official website.

And now Benitez has gone one step further to confirm that the 27-year-old striker will stay with Los Blancos and his club are very happy to have him within their ranks.

"He will stay with us, I can't see any reason why he would leave. We are very happy with him", Benitez said at a press conference also attended by Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino and AC Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic on the eve of the Audi Cup.

The 55-year-old though remained coy on further signings this summer, insisting that his objective for now is to get the best of the squad they currently have on offer.

"As I have said before, Madrid have brought a few players in and we already have a great squad.

"My objective is to get the best out of it, to improve the players we do have to be competitive – as Madrid always has been."
