Schalke are prepared to bid for Inter Milan defender Danilo D'Ambrosio, according to Sky Italia.

The German outfit are set to submit a bid worth €4m plus €2m in add-ons as they attempt to entice him away to the Veltins-Arena for the forthcoming season.

However, Inter are expected to reject the offer from the Bundesliga club as it fails to meet the valuation of the Serie A giants, it has been claimed.

Roberto Mancini’s side have made several reinforcements to their defensive ranks with the signings of Martin Montoya from Barcelona, Inter Milan’s Joao Miranda and Jeison Murillo from Granada amongst others.

But the former Manchester City boss sees D'Ambrosio as part of his side for the 2015/16 season and intends to keep him at the San Siro.
