Liverpool defender Kolo Toure has stressed the importance of the week leading up to their first Premier League match to starting the campaign on a positive note.

The Reds are up against Stoke City on the 9th of August, and Toure has emphasised the importance of starting the season well.




"This week will be a crucial week because it's really important to start the season well”, said the Ivorian to his club’s official website.

The 34-year-old is looking forward to the game at the Britannia Stadium, and has expressed his confidence about getting a good result in the Potteries, saying the Reds are “well prepared.”

Liverpool suffered a humiliating 6-1 defeat to the Potters in the corresponding fixture last season, but have spent heavily in the transfer window since.

The Anfield outfit have brought in seven new faces this summer including big money signings Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke, and will be expected to fare better than their sixth placed finish in the league in 2014/15.
