West Ham United have been handed a big boost in their chase of Atletico Madrid striker Raul Jimenez as Rayo Vallecano boss Paco Jemez has ruled out a move for the forward.

Jimenez has been targeted by Portuguese giants FC Porto and Benfica as well as Rayo Vallecano. The Hammers, too, have been in the thick of the race for the Mexican.

However, Jemez has ruled out a move for the forward as the Spanish capital outfit are unable to pay the transfer fee demanded by Los Rojiblancos.

"He was one of our first options, but we couldn't reach a deal”, the manager was quoted as saying by Madrid-based daily Marca.

“They asked for two million for the transfer", he concluded.

The son of West Ham United co-chairman David Sullivan, Jack, earlier today tweeted about nearing the purchase of another player. However, he didn’t reveal the name of the player.

Jemez’s comments have boosted the Hammers’ chase for the Mexican as they bid to strengthen their ranks for the 2015/16 season under new manager Slaven Bilic.

Jimenez landed at the Vicente Calderon last summer from Mexican Liga MX side Club America and went on to make 28 appearances across all competitions, scoring a solitary goal in the process.
