Former Juventus winger Simone Pepe is due to hold talks with Chievo Verona later today as the scramble for his signature heats up.

Pepe is a free agent following his departure from Juventus at the end of last season and has attracted substantial attention.

Former club Udinese have offered him a one-year contract, while Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino is a big fan, having had Pepe at the club he used to own, Cagliari.

Now Chievo have their chance to sell themselves to Pepe as, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, they are due to meet with the winger later today.

Chievo managed a finish of 14th in Italy's Serie A last season and are looking to Pepe to bolster their ranks ahead of the new season.

The 31-year-old joined Juventus in 2010 from Udinese and picked up four Serie A titles at the Turin giants, along with one Italian Cup and two Italian Super Cups.

However, Pepe has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, something which meant he managed only a single appearance in the 2012/13 campaign, followed up by three appearances in the 2013/14 season.

Last term Pepe took steps to recovery, making a total of 16 appearances in all competitions.
