Angel di Maria is ready to help Paris Saint-Germain reach the latter stages of the Champions League next season.

The Argentine is close to completing his switch from Manchester United to PSG after completing a medical in Doha yesterday.

Manchester United and PSG have reportedly reached an agreement over a fee and the French champions are expected to make an official announcement soon.

While either of the clubs are yet to make the move official, the Argentine has revealed that he is pleased to be joining the Parisians this summer.

Di Maria stressed that he is joining PSG because he wants to help the club to take the next step in their development and turn them into a force to be reckoned with in the Champions League.

"I am very happy to join Paris St-Germain. They're very important”, Di Maria told beIN Sport.

"They made it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, so my objective was to arrive to Paris and to help them through the quarter-final barrier, because they have struggled in the past two seasons.

"I will try to do the best I can to help the club in those objectives and reach the final stages of the Champions League."

The Argentine joined Manchester United last summer for a club record fee of £59.7m but despite a bright start to his career, he failed to settle down in England and eventually lost his place in the starting eleven during the last few months of the season.

He scored four goals and provided 12 assists in 32 appearances for the club last season.
